Andreas Melbostad joined Diesel Black Gold as creative director of the women’s collections in October 2012, unveiling his first Pre-Fall collection in December 2012, followed by the RTW collection in February 2013.
In September 2013, the New York based fashion designer undertook the global creative direction for Diesel Black Gold, adding to his current duties the responsibility of also overseeing the men’s collection and the overall image of the label.
Born and raised in Norway, Andreas Melbostad began his career with Nicole Farhi in London, before relocating to Paris where he collaborated with Alber Elbaz – on the Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche collections. He also worked at Nina Ricci in Paris and in New York for Donna Karan and Calvin Klein, before becoming the Creative Director of Phi. Since Phi, Andreas started consulting with diverse brands, in both the US and Europe.
Under his creative direction, the Diesel Black Gold collections have garnered critical acclaim for their sophisticated urban style and international cosmopolitan aesthetic, further defining the DNA of the line in the design contemporary arena.
